Music Theory Department

The Music Theory Department profiles its activities in two basic directions – it ensures the implementation of the majority of theoretical teaching at the Faculty of Music, and it develops professional activities in the field of science and research. The main research areas that have long been reflected by the members of the workplace include the Brno School of Composition, research into the work of Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů, Claudio Monteverdi or other authors, regional studies of music, the history of organ and organ building and many other topics.
