Organ and Early Music Department

Organ and Early Music Department

The Department manages the Historical and Organ Interpretation programmes. In their development, the study programmes have reached a format in which theoretical, practical and applied courses are represented and well interconnected. Therefore, the teachers of theoretical courses are well aware of the practical art projects in which students participate and they are thus able to utilise immediate practical knowledge in theoretical teaching.

The Historical Interpretation programme is designed for those interested in studying:

  • harpsichord;
  • traverse flute;
  • historical violin;
  • historical cello;
  • historical singing (both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree);
  • historical oboe (for the first time in 2022).

A graduate can work in various chamber groups, hold the position of church organists, accompany instrumentalists and singers, teach at art schools and conservatories.

After successfully finishing the studies, the graduate will be able to find employment as:

  • a soloist performing with an orchestra;
  • a soloist organising his or her own recitals;
  • player of baroque or historical orchestra in the Czech Republic and abroad;
  • a leader or member of chamber ensembles;
  • teacher at primary art schools, conservatories and music grammar schools, universities of arts or pedagogy.
