The Master’s degree programme in Flute performance prepares future professional musicians – soloists, chamber and orchestral players. The studies in this programme cover a wide repertoire of all stylistic periods. The study programme can also be attended by future teachers who will teach at primary art schools, conservatories, music grammar schools and higher education institutions (music academies).
The main prerequisite is a Bachelor’s degree from a higher education institution obtained in the relevant field of the Wind Instruments study program and in the relevant specialization.
Applicants who have studied bachelor’s degrees fields must also demonstrate an exceptional level of skills in their specialization in a practical exam. This practical examination will determine what professional and, above all, artistic prerequisites the applicant has for studying the chosen specialization of the given study program.
The entrance examination takes the form of a recital, where the applicant performs on an instrument. Here, the applicant must demonstrate a high level of interpretive skills. This will be judged by a committee appointed and approved by the Dean of the Faculty of Music JAMU. This panel will also assess the applicant’s motivation, knowledge and professional level.
Conditions of the talent examination
The talent examination will last approximately 70 minutes. It will consist of compositions from three different stylistic periods, with at least one composition to be performed from memory. The repertoire will be chosen by the applicant and the admissions committee will assess, among other things, the suitability of this choice.
