Where is the guitar interpretation taught at JAMU?
The guitar interpretation is taught at the Sting Instruments Department. The education at the Department focuses on developing the talent and abilities of students for independent implementation of art projects. Of course, we strive to provide as individual approach to each student as possible with regard to the level of his or her talent, technical and artistic potential, intellectual maturity and overall artistic level. The following courses are taught at the String Instruments Department: Instrument playing, Chamber playing, Study of the piano repertoire, History of the Instrument and its Repertory, Methodology of playing the instrument, Study of orchestral parts. In addition to these, students of the String Instruments Department can also study courses taught at the Jazz Interpretation Department or the Organ and Historical Interpretation Department. Most courses are taught individually.
What is the employability of graduates of the String Instruments Department?
Graduates can find quality employment not only in the Czech Republic, but also abroad as members of orchestras, chamber ensembles or teachers of primary art schools, conservatories or music colleges.
The Bachelor’s degree programme will enable graduates to work in symphony, theatre and chamber orchestras and to teach at primary and secondary levels of arts education.
What are the conditions of the entrance examination?
Applicants must have completed secondary education by a Matura examination. Applicants must demonstrate an exceptional level of skills in their specialisation in a practical exam and meet the conditions of the admission procedure. The entrance examination determines the professional and especially artistic qualification for studies in the chosen specialisation of the given study programme.
The entrance examination is held in the form of a recital, during which the applicant performs on the instrument for which he or she is applying.
