Counselling activities

JAMU‘s Faculty of Music has established the HF JAMU Counselling Centre for its students and employees. The Counselling Centre is an independent structure within the Faculty aimed at promoting a healthy social climate, offering help in the field of mental health care and providing a safe environment at the Faculty within the framework of quality assurance.

 

PhDr. Andrea Mikotová, Ph.D., who holds the position of peacemaker at HF JAMU, is available to both students and staff. Her position has been established for the area of mediation and counselling HF JAMU students who are dealing with various problems. The relationship between the peacemaker and the student or employee is based on trust, secrecy and confidentiality.

What things are dealt with between the peacemaker and students and in what cases should you contact the peacemaker?

  • If you have problems with stage fright, difficulty concentrating, difficulties in relationships, etc.
  • You need to deal with stress, anxiety, etc.
  • If you need career advice
  • If you are dealing with a challenging situation (e.g. a conflict between students and teachers)
  • If you need psychological first aid and don’t know what to do

The HF JAMU Counselling Centre also includes the HF JAMU Ethics Council and the Disciplinary Commission, which deals with gross misconduct among students. There is also an academy-wide Ethics Commission, which is the author of the JAMU Code of Ethics.

So who can you turn to when dealing with an unpleasant situation or if you feel that ethical principles are not being followed?
